Arjuna’s Duty and Your Duty One and the Same

Krishna and Arjuna Battle of Kurukshetra
Swami Vishwananda: One major factor that stops mankind from becoming love is the mind. To overcome the mind, chant any Divine name. When you practice this regularly, the mind will focus on simplicity. Controlling the mind is your duty on the spiritual path. When soldiers go to war, it is their duty to serve and protect their country. They do not produce any Karma, even when they are fighting.

Krishna communicated to Arjuna in the Gita at the point where Arjun dropped his bow in resignation not to fight his own kin in the battle of Kurukshetra,: "If you will not fight this righteous war, then you will fail in your duty, lose your reputation, and incur sin. People will talk about your disgrace forever. To the honored, disgrace is worse than death. You will go to heaven if killed in the line of duty, or you will enjoy the kingdom on Earth if victorious. Therefore, get up with determination to fight, O Arjuna, just do your duty to the best of your ability, without becoming discouraged by the thought of the outcome, which may be success or failure, gain or loss, victory or defeat. By doing your duty with this attitude, you will not incur sin or Karmic bondage.”

Controlling the mind is your duty on the spiritual path.
