GURU PURNIMA 2011 Shree Peetha Nilaya with Sri Swami Vishwananda

Utpalavati:

I am at Shree Peetha Nilaya and Guru Purnima today, Friday, July 15. This evening, all devotees were given the opportunity to venerate the Guru by keeling in front of Swami and placing rose petals on his feet. This unity created a tangible and beautiful shakti energy.

I will paraphrase from memory a little of what Swami talked about after the veneration of the Guru: He began talking about how the Guru is inside everyone. He talked about the 108 bhagans which were sung throughout the day from groups of people from different countries. (Swami, along with residents of Shree Peetha Nilaya sang the first and last round of the 108 bhagans). Swami talked about how the unity created when people sing or chant the Divine names together makes everyone stronger. That is as Jesus said: "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am also," because the unity of more than one person praying or chanting together makes them stronger. Swami said that we are one family.

Swami talked about the Divine Mother. When we pray to her in "my name" she will give us what we pray for if it is beneficial.
