In a time long ago, in a land that now lies below the surface of the ocean deep; there was a civilization of God-loving mankind. When a time came in the development of these peoples where a test was given from the Divine, they ran toward the material world and away from the Divine whom they had known for so long. Through choices they made in lifestyle, scientific development, leadership and human relations their civilization deteriorated into the lower realms of the material world. Eventually, an earthquake occurred and this once God-loving civilization was lost beneath the ocean waves caused by the quaking and splitting of the Earth.
Today in your world, this same testing is occurring in a way greater than this past civilization. You see, the whole world is in a testing phase of humanity. It is said in the Bible: “You cannot serve both God and mammon.” In has been interpreted that mammon is defined as money. This word at the time the original scripture was written in another language had a broader meaning. Mammon means, then and now, the world economy, governments, social conditions, human relations and all that belongs to the material world. You cannot serve both God and the things of this material world! You are given the mandate by the Divine to experience the things of this world but without attachment.
This world today is undergoing a similar test of this civilization of a time past. Where do you stand and how are you reacting in your life and from within to this present-day world situation? I tell you truly that the way to contribute to the whole of mankind in these trying times is to stay centered in the Heart space. Stay focused on the Divine as you go through your day and dedicate all that you experience in the material world to God. Chant the name of God until it is an intricate part of your being and always echoing in your heart and mind. It is in this way that you become safe, or saved as the Christian tradition teaches, in these times of trouble.
Be so focused on the Divine that even an earthquake will not shake your inner connection with the Divine and your peace and Love within.
Mahavatar Babaji
Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving, and full of the desire to serve. Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigor, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then, you will achieve your destiny.
