Swami's Darshan Talk Last Night

Swami Vishwananda's Darshan Talk 26 February 2011 (excerpt)
A few days ago somebody asked me, “Swamiji, you always say pray to God always, but I am working on the outside (in the world). How would I attain the Divine?” Many of you ask this question. I said, ‘It’s so simple.’ Of course, one’s duty is very important; one can’t not do one’s duty. The Gita said that one’s karma, one has to do no matter what, and karma is very important. How one has to do it, that’s the most important. There is one form of doing one’s duty of karma which means doing one’s duty without even thinking of the result. That’s what the Gita said. Whatever one does, if one is attached to the fruit of the action, one will suffer. It’s true, because when we expect certain things when we do something, there is always certain expectations and when that expectation is not met, what happens? You get sad. You feel upset. Where does this come from?

So, when one does one’s duty without even expecting something, the mind is already surrendering to the Divine. When the mind has the quality of the sattva (without impurities) quality, the mind doesn’t have any power into it. This is when whatever one does is in complete surrender to the Divine. When one mixes a little bit of the “I” quality into the sattva quality, this is when one will say, “I will do good to the world.” Into that state we’ll see that the “I” is very big. Whenever the mind pictures the “I”, it doesn’t mean the “I” of the Self, it means always the “I” of the ego. I can do this; I can do that. As long as you have not realized yourself, the “I” of the ego is always big. That’s why they say in the scriptures, “Remove this 'I' Put Him, the Lord, because as long as you have not realized anything, one has to remind one’s self continuously that All is Him.

Love's Pearls of Wisdom - Mahavatar Babaji

Once, in England, a sadhaka I know was fond of making apple wine (cider). He was renowned for the high quality taste of his gift, as he called it. His fame came from the care he took in growing and distilling his special apples, which were his secret. One day, much to his chagrin, he fell sick in body and spirit and was no longer able to produce his apple wine for which he had gained name and fame. Lying in bed doing his sadhana, stripped of all his identity, he became enlightened. Should the Divine ask this of you, will you capitulate, surrender? This apple wine maker is a brother to you all.

-Mahavatar Babaji

Sadhaka: A sādhaka (Sanskrit) is someone who follows a particular sādhana, or a way of life designed to realize the goal of one's ultimate ideal, whether it is merging with the Divine, or realization of one's personal deity. The word is related to the Sanskrit sādhu, which is derived from the verb root sādh-, to accomplish. As long as one has yet to reach the goal, they are a sādhaka, while one who has reached the goal is called a siddha. In modern usage, sadhaka is often applied as a generic term for any religious practitioner. In medieval times it was more narrowly used as a technical term for one who had gone through a specific initiation.

Swami Vishwananda Kenya Seva

Swami Vishwananda's Kenya Seva Society February Seva

Swami Vishwananda Seva Society did a seva at Joy Town Primary School which is based in Thika. This school has about 400 children suffering from either mentally challenged or physical disabilities. The seva group bought bread, juice, sweets, milk and clothes for the children. We received donations from Canada which was equivalent to Ksh 15,000. The donations were through individuals and collected by Satish.

The children were so happy and excited to have us there. We have done 4 seva activities in this place since last year. It was beautiful to receive this love from them. Just before we had this seva, someone popped this question to me, "What do we mean by seva? And it made me wonder!! Seva actually is to serve all selflessly, with love just as you would serve the divine because he lives in all of us. It could be from making someone smile to sending healing!

When we visited the children, so many thoughts run through the mind, that how the grace of the divine has been with us that we are so blessed to at least be in a state that we can understand the gift of life. Yet, we are always unsettled, we want more? We never satisfied. Then what would I say about the kids? We request all those who will read this report, to take a moment, and visualize these children and pray for them to heal. Take a moment to reflect your life, and feel the grace of God that has always been there with you.

Attaining the Self

Swami Vishwananda at Paris Darshan

What is the Self ? Many spiritual people will say 'I am God,' as they read it in books. But can you do everything that God is doing? As long as the mind is not open, we cannot perceive the Self. Narada had a short vision of God and became mad of Love for God. The Self is Love, Light and supreme Bliss. When you have a taste of the Self, you forget everything. But how many will attain this? How many really want to attain the Self?

Love's Pearls of Wisdom

By Mahavatar Babaji

Heavenly scents come to those who have purified the nadi points,
pranic
lifeforce energy in motion, within the chakra energy
centers of the human
form. How does one do this? Firstly, take an
apple like it is said: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
Secondly, like your Teacher tells you: ‘Take
to Heart your spiritual
sadhana and your etheric form will merge with your physical form.
It is so, then, that you will be well and have no need for a doctor.'
It works like this if you will adhere to the Divine Principles
taught by your Teacher.
Let It Be.

Mahavatar Babaji

Masters teach that the great ones like Master Christ Jesus and St. Francis of Assisi have the ability to heal many, while in their physical forms, they suffer for a purpose and not from their own karma. The Masters tell us that these great ones often suffer as they work out the karma of others in their own bodies. Perhaps the pain of the great ones is not the same as an unenlightened one. –Utpalavati

Swami Vishwananda speaks about the pain [suffering] of love: “The Saints know about it. Their hearts pain to be with the Divine. They cry for it. Read the life of St. Francis. Do you know how much he was crying always? But it does not have to be intensive always like that. Right now we are talking about the pain of love, but St. Francis also had great joy. This sensitivity can manifest itself also as being painful. It's not really painful, but it’s a longing for the Beloved One.

Vasudeva Kutumbakam

Only when one is doing its own function, its own duty or dharma, then there is perfect unity. Know one thing: the world is not the same. Twenty years ago and now is different. Two thousand years ago and now is different. And the next few years coming it will be different. When we look at nature, Mother Nature is reacting in such a way that it’s not pleasing to see. But when we look at humans the way they are reacting is even worse than unpleasing to see. It’s about time to change one’s mind, the way we see things. It’s about time to look at ourselves and say, “What can I change? What am I willing to change?” Many people put the tag, “I love God.” But really they don’t. They only want the quality of God. They want only to get, and get, and get from God, but they don’t really want to receive and manifest the Lord inside, the Divine within themselves. And I tell you, if they don’t want to change, Mother Nature will make them change. Sometimes if they don’t want to change in a certain way, Nature reacts in another way. Sometimes it is peaceful, but there is a change.

So, let us learn to become humble like Christ. Let us learn sincerely to love one another. Let us learn to be in unity with each situation. Let us build one family. We say in Sanskrit: “Vasudeva Kutumbakam,” which means, the whole world is one family. The peace can come first within you and through you to everybody, only when you are in unity together. When you work together with each other, you will be stronger. But if you work against others, you will be the weak one.

So it Goes Around and Around

By Mahavatar Babaji:

Christ said: “Whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him, but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, or the world to come.” (Christian Bible - Matthew 12:32)

Let it be known that this verse has not been understood in its entirety through time and translations. Christ was speaking of the true nature of man, which has the inherent capability to realize his Divinity as: “My Father and I are one,” which Christ taught also. If one realizes this great truth, then this verse takes on a depth of meaning that one cannot understand without realizing that he also, like Christ, may say in truth, “My Father and I are one.”

How can one speak against the Son of Man? Christ was speaking of the times each one makes choices which go against his natural nature such as the verities of life known as: lust, greed, anger, disloyalty, and judgment. These choices keep one on the wheel of karma which necessitates returning to Earth again and again in ignorance of who one really is. This “speaking against the Son of man” is forgiven in the sense that one’s physical form is temporary and God grants new forms through reincarnation to come again and again until one realizes his true nature. It is time we come to the center of the Self, the heart of the Self, and take the courage to forge ahead no matter when trials and tests come along the way of ourselves and also other people “speaking against the Son of Man—You.”

When one speaks against the Holy Spirit, it is speaking and acting against one’s own true nature. When Christ said this cannot be forgiven in this world or the world to come, he meant that one must balance his karma in order to move forward with his spiritual growth. One is not forgiven in this world or the next for speaking and acting against the Holy Spirit, within, until one balances this karma, the samskaras one accumulates while incarnated. Remember that first one has to forgive himself through correcting his choices which were not aligned with his true inner nature.

And so it goes around and around until one comes home to the truth of the Self: God-Self-Realization.
-Babaji

Swami Vishwananda:
“It is possible to fulfill the purpose of your incarnation only if you surrender body, mind and soul completely to God. Let go of your identity, let go of this “I”, this egoism that causes you to focus only on the outside. When you let go of your identity, then the Divine will reveal Itself to you. Then you will see the Unlimited and you will feel the blissful happiness.

“Know one thing: Whenever you do good, some people always will be against you. Why? Because, inwardly, they would like to do something the same, but they can’t. They try their best, but yet they can’t. Then what happens? They become against; this is how they express their love.” –Swami Vishwananda

During his talk on February 5, 2011, Swami Vishwananda recently said to the people there: "You should study the Bible. This is your culture here. You should know it better than anybody else – even better than me.

Mene, Mene, Tekel and Parsin

Sri Swami Vishwananda Tells the Story

"The Handwriting on the Wall"
In the
Babylonian Palace of King Belshazzar

"Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared, and began to write on the plaster of the palace wall...and the king could see the hand as it wrote." (Daniel 5:5)

'Mene, Mene, Tekel and Parsin'

The meaning of the words: ‘Mene: God has measured your sovereignty and finished it; Tekel: you have been weighed in the balance and found lacking; Parsin: your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and the Persians.' That same night, the Babylonian king Belshazzar was murdered, and Darius the Mede received the kingdom..." (Dn.5:23-31).

Sri Swami Vishwananda tells the story of "The Handwriting on the Wall," and responds to the question: "Is all the global flooding that is happening right now part of Mother Earth's cleansing? Is it part of the Divine plan? Listen to Swami Vishwanada’s response to this question.
