In a recent Satsang Gurudev was asked. . .
Why do you materialise things for some and not for others? "Some need it; there is always a personal reason or occurrence. When the time comes, they will get it. Then the materialised object does its work and places its effect on the person. When the object's work is done, it will disappear."

What are the effects of rings and earrings? "Rings act to protect and preserve, and earrings help one to listen to one's inner voice with greater clarity. In general, a materialised object acts as a protective shield and a reminder to the person."

Why did you incarnate as you have? "First: To help you, to help people. Second: The time in which we live requires it."

Who are you? "Well, I will not be seen so easily! But after I leave this body, people will know it. There are only a few people that are blessed to see my true form and I have forbidden them to talk about it."

ATTUNEMENT WITH GURU

Two Attunements With The Guru: One with the Param Guru, Mahavatar Babaji, and one with the Guru, Swami Vishwananda:

Attunement With The Param Guru Mahavatar Babaji: (Param Guru—The Guru beyond, the Guru’s Guru; Babaji is our Guru, Swami Vishwananda’s Guru): This following experience was placed on the blog entry of two days ago, September 26, 2010, entitled: “Letter from Babaji—Let Me Tell You Something of Great Importance”.

Dear Babaji, Dear Guruji,
Thank you! I read your precious letter and I didn't stop crying. And your love—the Love entered sweetly into my heart like in the past, like before I was born. And I felt a strong desire and yearning to return Home toward You. Thank you for helping us in our path in this Earth, each day!

ATTUNEMENT WITH THE GURU

Dream of Sunday, September 26, 2010:
Swami Vishwananda and I were in a room with some other people. I was distressed about something. Swami gave me a bottle of “medicine” in a strange sort of make-shift bottle, with an improvised stopper or lid made of paper towel rolled and stuffed into the opening. Suddenly my youngest son came over to me. I saw that he was spilling some of the medicine Swami had given him. Being the mother, I quickly pulled out the paper towel stopper from my bottle of medicine and was able to catch some of my son’s spilling medicine. (This is funny now, but in the dream, the situation was very serious!)

Swami came over and I asked him, “Oh, Swami, I just caught this medicine my son was spilling from his medicine bottle into the bottle of medicine you gave me. Is it still all right for me to take this medicine? Swami, said, “No, it would not be good for the person for whom I made the medicine to mix the medicines.”

Then all the people left the room and Swami hugged me, like he does with everyone sometimes, in an effort to comfort me about my distress and ruining the medicine he had given me. Suddenly the door handle began to turn and I thought of Swami and me in the room alone. I quickly start to move away from Swami’s hug before the person could come into the room. Swami held on all the tighter, and I could not get away from his arms. The dream ended before the person at the door actually came into the room.

Interpretation of the Dream:

1) Since Swami Vishwananda came into my life in 2006, it seems everything has dropped away: people, places and things. I spend 99% of my time alone now, have very little social life, and cannot seem to locate any new interests besides my Guru.

2) I have been trying for 3 months or more to go to Springen and stay near Swami for sometime. There seems to be delay and more delays. Last Sunday, I was speaking with my daughter, and we were discussing what could be the problem that I can’t seem to get over to Springen to be near Swami at least for awhile. Then I had the dream with Swami that night.

3) Making the medicine not usable through “mixing” the two medicines represents my determination to hang onto my children, whom I dearly love unconditionally. And this is my number one attachment that is keeping me from surrendering to the Guru. I chose my son over the Guru in the situation Swami had orchestrated by giving us the two medicines, my son spilling his medicine (rejecting), and, me, the mother coming to the rescue even when the son did not want the medicine in the first place. My son is old enough to care for himself now and my duty to my three children has decreased. I am free to surrender everything to the Guru. Swami giving me the medicine to be taken internally represents the detachments and changes I still must make, inside, in order to be free to go to the Guru. The person Swami made the medicine for was, of course, my inner Self!

4) The symbol of Swami hugging me and a person trying to come in the door who surely would see us: I was not worried about Swami. I was worried that I would look to the person like an emotional female with no self-control and mind-control, and finding myself in a distressful situation, I needed to have an emotional breakdown and ask for Swami’s help.

5) Even though I thought everything in my life had evaporated and I had detached since I met Swami, there were two areas to which I was still hanging on. One, my children and two, myself—that is I am placing my children and my own will before the Guru’s teaching.

6) In a recent Satsang in Italy, Swami was asked: "What does it mean, exactly, to be loyal to a Guru?"Swami answered:

"That means that even if you disagree, you don't harm. You remove yourself from the front and put your Guru in the first place. The more you do this, the more grace you will have coming through your Guru!"

7) Then Monday morning Swami’s answer to my unwritten question about the dream came per a video placed on VBV blog Monday morning, which I viewed just before I was going to write Swami an email asking him if I had interpreted the dream correctly. (Note: I have done this rarely and only when I feel the dream is of great importance to my spiritual growth. Many dreams Swami helps to decode and interpret them without the need to speak with him or write him! This dream was such a one as that!) These are the words on the video that applied to my situation in the dream of Swami and in my life:

“Like a newborn baby, when he is hungry, he asks even when he does not know how to speak… We can express our heart’s voice by shedding tears. For how many days does that newborn baby, just through crying, have all his desires fulfilled by his mother. If he feels cold, he cries. If he feels hungry, he cries. If he feels pain anywhere, he cries. He has only one remedy for all his demands: crying. This is complete surrender.

8) Swami hanging onto me even though someone was coming into the room: In looking at the symbology of Swami holding onto me tightly in the dream, I was reminded of his saying: “If God has put you here on Earth, He will not let go so easily”. So even though I am hanging onto my children and myself placing us before the Guru, the Satguru will not let go.

9) From this dream and video, Swami has shown me exactly what detachments must come before I free myself to surrender to the Guru. This is not new knowledge, but this dream and quote came at exactly the moment when I realized the meaning of surrender to the Guru, once again. I embraced into my own life what Swami has said so often and in so many ways:

Letter from Babaji: Let Me Tell You Something of Great Importance

Mahavatar Babaji: The snake is representative of many Ayurvedic and spiritual emblems placed upon the awakening humanity’s ever marching forward tread. The sight of a snake holds fear for many. By the time, from time out of mind, that man arrives into the oasis of that called the Golden Era; the snake no longer will be a form to be feared. Today, you all are moving at a fast pace in your material world, and many of you are making progress on your spiritual path as well.

Toward what are we going? We know that physical existence one day will be no more for the present body. We know also that we never die. So why, at this stage of the Earth game, are so many searching in many traditions and all walks of life for the illusive I, the Self, one’s own enlightenment, the golden ring of eternal life, and the atma goal of liberation? The Divine deems it so! It simply is time as the cycles of time come and go throughout the ages of man on Earth. When the wheels of time stop spinning eventually, and you all will live in the present, these dark ages will be history. And some of you will remember this life and this time.

Progress on one’s spiritual path comes with the hard-won gifts of peace of mind and unconditional love for everyone. You will see God in the eyes of man, and animal, the minerals, the plants and the All. The lamb will lie down with the lion and all shall walk in freedom to be! I encourage you to look forward for a moment, with your feet fixed firmly in the present. Dear ones, your survival is assured! Do not worry for the changes that are occurring upon the planet at this time: the changes in nature, the world-wide stock market ups and downs, illness, the opium dens of the world, the oil barons, the rich, the poor, the homeless, the addicted, and all the ups and downs of life. When these worries weigh heavy upon the heart, mediate, do your Atma Kriya and pray, chant the Divine names and feel free. Soar with Garuda into the wild blue yonder and retrieve your birthright of freedom of the atma, the soul, by attaining God here and now in your time. Never before has it been so easy to attain God. Why? He has willed it to be so. It is time you all define your readiness to exist in peace and love.

Let me tell you something of great importance. I see you all, I know your habits, and I know your individual hearts. You moan to your Guru that there is not enough time for your spiritual sadhana. Yet, I see you spend hours on the Internet and in front of the television screens, and in all manner of activities in the material. Yes, you do work for your living, many have homes and children. I view it all. I am not here to condemn or condone anything that you do. I am here to guide you to the Divine, to unconditional love, that which you are in truth, and to teach you how to get there. Your Guru is the same as I am. When Christ said, “My Father and I are one”, he indeed could have been speaking of us, and we are One in our purpose for being on the planet. It is for you that we come. You may choose freely to go about your life as you please. If you truly wish to advance on the spiritual path, rest assured that you will find time for your sadhana the same way you find time for the Internet, the television, and so many things and people in your life.

Krishna said, “Out of Compassion for them, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance”. – Bhagavad Gita 10.1 "Awaken, Oh ye of little faith”, cried the Christ to the multitudes who were concretized in their thinking of that day. John the Baptist cried in the wilderness, along with Christ, “Oh ye hypocrites, come unto the Father and be set free.” (Babaji)—‘I am a voice calling to you from the wilderness of your own soul. Come home; set yourself free from the materialistic world view’ “Christ said: “Be in the world and not of it”. “What do you have when you have God”, Swami Vishwananda asks? Someone from the audience answers , and then he responds, “Yes, Everything”! That is a great truth.

Do you want God? We have given you, for centuries, the formulas to attain the Divine. Krishna was here among you over 5,000 years ago! To assist you in attaining the Divine is our purpose in being here with you. Are you listening? Do you want God? If so, you must do your part. I ever am with you. –Babaji

Swami Vishwananda, Vishnu, Krishna and the Mayura or Peacock

Mayura (a Sanskrit word for peacock) is one of the sacred birds of Hinduism. There are references to the Mayura in a number of Hindu scriptures. The peacock, Mayura, is the national bird of India. It is also a contemporary Hindu name used in many parts of India.

Mayura was created from the feathers of Garuda, a vahana (conveyance) of Vishnu, one of the Trimurti (Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva). In images of the Mayura, it is depicted as killing a snake, which according to a number of Hindu scriptures, is a symbol of cycle of time. Krishna is frequently depicted with peacock feathers adorning his head. Vishnu’s crown is sometimes depicted having a peacock feather. The feathers of Mayura, the peacock, are considered sacred and are used to dust the religious images and implements of Hindus.

During Sri Swami Vishwananda’s Darshan in Centro D’ompio, Italy in September, two peacocks, Mayuas, came to Darshan. The peacocks stood looking inside, for some time, outside the large ceiling to ground windows in the building. Later, after Swamiji had left his room, one of the two peacocks sat patiently waiting.

Letter from Mahavatar Babaji: Devotion Leads to Enlightenment

Mahavatar Babaji: Once upon a time in the place of Tennessee, USA, there lived a young man who was of the breed of that termed, the wealthy, privileged class for generations within his surname, so respected. He was born with an inherent gentle, loving nature. He enjoyed riding the horses of that termed the Tennessee high-stepping thoroughbreds of that time and place in the annual prestigious horse race in the town where he lived. In his youth, he so loved any horse on which he rode, that he naturally attained oneness with the horse’s heartbeat and, thereby, won all the races. This annual horse race indeed brought prestige to the family name, in those days, of whichever family won the race.

There came a time when one family had obtained a new horse which was reputed to be much faster than any of the horses owned by the family of this young man. From family pressure, this young man compromised his nature of what was right, or dharmically correct to do, and gave his horse a drug that enabled him to win the race easily. In those days, no one except the boy and his family ever knew.

So distraught was the young man within himself at his incorrect dharmic behavior, that he left home and wandered into the world of Europe in the early 19th Century. There he met a Holy Man from India who was lecturing and teaching the ancient Vedic knowledge to those interested in those days in Europe. The young man became friends with this Holy Man and eventually went back to India with him to a small ashram in the Himalayas in a place called Rishikesh, India. Many sadhus and rishis wander in or out, and many live in this holy city in India in the heart of spiritual attainment there by the Sacred Ganges River.

One day the young man was walking in the vicinity of a certain cave in the area beyond the town of Rishikesh. I met him there as he was a disciple of mine for many lifetimes, and I had called him to Rishikesh through the Holy Rishi he had met in Europe, also a disciple. You see, it was in Divine timing that this young man be reawakened into memories of his past incarnations. The young man’s dharma called for him to wash away his sins, in his terms of understanding, as per his time and place of birth. It was time for him to pick up his bamboo staff and wander for awhile in the Himalayas meeting Holy Rishis, sages and saints in these sacred mountains. I initiated him into Kriya Yoga on his fateful day near Rishikesh.

This young man became enlightened some years later through his wanderings in the Himalayas and his diligent practice of Kriya Yoga. Today, in your time, the same techniques contained in this Kriya Yoga in which I initiated this young man, I also have updated for current time in Swami Vishwananda’s Atma Kriya Yoga. Why am I telling you this short story from a time when none of you, even the oldest among you, was born on planet Earth in your present incarnations? Yet, I was here, I still am here, and I will ever be here on Earth until the present age is complete. And should the Heavenly Father, the Supreme Being, Narayana-Vishnu deem it worthy, I shall be here still. I am ever with you, please understand.

This young man, of whom I speak, listened to his heart instead of the family into which he was born into at his time of birth. You see, his family was immersed into the maya of their own time, place and family prestige which was garnered throughout generations, and which succeeding generations inherited. The class system of India is but one example of this type of human evolvement and inherited ways of being, please understand.

Do you comprehend the parallel threads of connection within this short story with your own life in this incarnation and how it is that I am coming to you through your connections with Swami Vishwananda and your own connections to me. In my story, the Holy Rishi who brought the young man to me in Rishikesh, indeed, is representative of Swami Vishwananda bringing you all to me, isn’t it? And dear friends, each of you have the same opportunity of following your heart, as Swami Vishwananda teaches you, as did the young man in my story follow his heart. And each of you has the maha opportunity to attain enlightenment through following Swami Vishwananda’s teachings represented in the short story by the young man’s wandering in the Himalayas. There he met Holy Rishis and followed their teachings into enlightenment. It is written; It is so; Let It Be!

I am Babaji, ever your champion, dear friends.

Swami Vishwananda recently said: “I have told you all what to do, and when you follow what I have told you, you will advance rapidly and far. Christ said: ‘There are many who know me but when it comes to true devotion I must say, I do not know you.’ (Swami was paraphrasing and summarizing these verses from the Bible Matthew 25:1-12): “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins (representing purity of devotion) who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ —Matthew 25:1-12.

Swami also said at this time: “Ramakrishna needed to do strong penance to obtain one true, devoted disciple.”

Are you a true, devoted disciple of Swami Vishwananda and Mahavatar Babaji? Do you aspire to this? Swami Vishwananda recently said that he has told us what to do to advance on our spiritual path!

Swami Vishwananda talk yesterday on Radhashtami: Someone present at Gurudev's talk yesterday wrote this: "Last night Guruji spoke to us. It was Radharanis appearance day and he spoke about true devotion. True devotion, like that of Radharani does not look left and right, it is only focused on the One. He made a strong point about sticking fully to the Master and not to look here and there. To look here and there is only to fill up our mind. He said that he does not tell us too much because he does not want to fill up our mind. For that- why look somewhere else to fill up our mind?

"Swamiji referred to Christ saying that Christ said: 'There are many who know me but when it comes down to true devotion He has to say that He does not know most of these people.' He also spoke about Ramakrishna who made strong penance to have at least one true disciple- that was Vivekananda. Imagine! someone like Ramakrishna needs to do strong penance to have at least one true disciple! Swamiji also said that He has told us what to do and if we would follow that, we would advance rapidly and far."

Radhashtami
In the Vaishnav Tradition devotees celebrate the birthday of Radharani. This year, 2010, Radharani's birthday was yesterday, September 15. She was born in Barsana, 30 Km from Mathura, India, a daughter of King Vrishabhano and Mata Kirati. Radha was some years older than Lord Krishna, and it is written that the Divine girl did not open her eyes until Krishna was born. The relationship of Krishna and Radha is spiritual in nature and it transcends any concept the human mind may conceive.

Vedic Literature explains that Radha is Krishna’s Shakti, his Spiritual Energy. Whenever the Lord incarnates, His Spiritual Energy also incarnates into a female form. Hence Hindus always worship Lakshmi with Narayana-Vishnu, Sita with Ram, and Radha with Krishna. One attains Krishna through the Grace of Radha. The Shakti, Divine Mother, takes one to the Father, as in Lakshmi takes one to Narayana-Vishnu and Radharani takes one to Krishna.

Give Love Receive Love

If Love is given, Love always has to flow. But what happens, what people do always is that when they receive love, they feel it, but they close themselves. They want to keep this love. They think that they always will feel the same Love, but know Love makes you sick after some time. This is because if you try to keep it always inside of you all the time, pride and arrogance will awaken and try to control all these feelings, because you want to have more, but yet you don’t want to give.

Letter From Babaji: Look for the Heart of Everything

Once there was a small boy who lived high in the Himalayas of India. Each morning he went to fetch water from the nearby spring that pooled from the snows that melted in the spring there. One day he found to his astonishment a small fish in the pond. He quickly went home and brought some bread crumbs to the tiny fish. He did not know whether or not fish ate bread.

The fish grew and each morning the little boy brought bread crumbs for the fish. There came a time when the boy’s mother fell sick and the little boy was worried as his mother did not seem to be improving. The boy began talking to this fish that by now was a big fish as time had passed. One day the boy heard a voice speaking when he had said: “Oh, my little fish that now is big, I weep for my mother who suffers with an illness that will not go away. Would that Vishnu, the Great Supreme Being, have mercy on my mother so that she will be well.” Immediately a voice from nowhere and everywhere said: “Little boy go home and take this medallion I give you, and place it on the third eye of your mother. Say a prayer to Vishnu and by evening your mother will be well. She will arise and cook your food. Now go and be happy, for you have reached the hand and heart of Vishnu with your love for this fish! “ And suddenly, the fish opened its mouth, and spit out a silver medallion which landed gently in the boy’s hand. The face of the little boy, that had not grown as fast as the fish, as is nature’s way, thanked the fish and ran home to do the bidding of The Supreme Being, Vishnu.

Surely the words of the voice were spoken truth as everything happened to the little boy’s mother according to the words of unknown origin he had heard as he looked at the fish in the small pond. The next morning the little boy ran to the spring to tell the fish what had occurred to his mother. When he looked into the pond, the fish was nowhere to be found. The boy was sad, but knowing the ways of nature, he thought that perhaps the fish had swam away for a bigger spring and maybe to find some other fish which whom he could play. Nevertheless the little boy bowed his head and folded his hands in prayer. This is the prayer he prayed, but in his own small words:

Thank you Oh, Supreme Being,
Your hand is in nature and all things,
Your love is apparent in the wind and rain,
The bird singing and the tiger’s roar.
Thank you for hearing my prayer,
And thank you for my life and my
Mother’s happiness in being well
So that she can take care, once again,
For me, her child.

May all men find your love and your grace.
Bless the small and the great of creation.
Bless everyone in all the worlds and bring
Them to your lotus feet of Divine Love.

Narayana-Vishnu - The Supreme Being

Suddenly, the little fish that first the little boy had seen appeared, once again, in the pond. And he seemed to be smiling, to the little boy’s delight. Suddenly, from the eyes of the fish, rainbow colors of light rays spread out in every direction. Inside the beautiful, magnificent colors stood the God, Vishnu, who smiled at the little boy. Strangely, the smile reminded him of the little fish that seemed to smile earlier. Then to the little boy’s amazement, a voice like the one he had heard say his mother would be well, now came from Vishnu, the God, Itself: “Be blessed, for you who seek and see God in the all, even in a tiny fish, shall be instruments of my Love and you shall lead others to this realization that God is in everything, in you and the All.” Amen and OM. –Mahavatar Babaji

Cologne Mudra Teaching Swami Vishwananda

Swami Vishwananda recently has been teaching Mudra instruction throughout Europe. During the first week of September, the beautiful and serene location, Tajet Gardens Centre, in Cologne, Germany hosted a Mudra Course with Sri Swami Vishwananda. Ramayotee, a disciple, organised everything to perfection. Gurudev began with an introductory speach about Atma Kriya Yoga and Om Healing. Then he directed an Om Healing circle before he began the Murda Course.

Swami Vishwananda taught 10 Mudras with great enthusisasm and joy. At the end of the Mudra teaching, Gurudev meditated with everyone.

You Know Where You Are Going

Swami Vishwananda: You will see how important are the feet of the teacher when you go to a Hindu Temple. The first representation that you see is the feet of the Deity. The first thing that you do is to bow down to the feet. You go to the Master and you bow down to the feet. You bow down to the greatness. Bow down to the Divine inside (you). You bow down to the Father within the Teacher. And that is what *Christ said. He said it word by word. I don’t even need to comment on it. [* Christ said: “My Father and I are One.”] It is very clear that this non-duality Of God is within man. On the way to God-realization you will Not reach God-realization with pride. You will not reach it with arrogance. You will reach God-realization only when you are humble. And people will be against you. You know where you are going And you know why. So, meditate on that. Continued From Yesterday: The animal is bound very much with intuition, and they follow their intuition. Mankind is gifted with this great gift of knowledge, of using it in a proper way; but sadly, they don't use it in a proper way. They know that this will bring misery to them, but they do that much more, because they say afterwards, we can change it. But when is the afterwards? If now you can't change, afterwards will be too late. So changes start now when you are aware of yourself, when you are aware how you are looking at things. That's why the scriptures said, chant the Divine name. Let your mind submerge and transform itself through the Divine chanting and let the real love awaken inside of you. Because this love is not by looking in the outside; it's by looking within you.

Now, this unconditional love is not about today you say to somebody, "Yes, I love you," and tomorrow you say, "I hate you". It's the same person, five minutes you love him and the other five minutes you say, ''I hate the person''. This unconditional love is the real love that, for centuries, for lives, mankind has been looking. And now you are living in a time where you hear it often; you can hear it everywhere, but you are living at a time, also, where you can put it into practice.

If you close this mind, you utilize it in a proper way, and you listen to your intuition. God has given you an intuition to follow, so you have to learn to listen to the intuition in a calm way. You'll be able to hear your intuition only when you're calm, and you will be able to accept what your intuition is telling you. Often I've seen people as they're listening to the mind, but they say, “Swamiji, I have been listening to my intuition“, but actually it's not like that. The difference between the intuition and the mind is two different kinds of voices you will hear. The mind voice always will flatter you. It always will say you are the best one, and whatever you are doing is good, and you should do more things like this. Whereas, the intuition, the intuitive voice inside of you is sharp and direct, and it's not flattering.

Often it happens in your life that you have certain disciplines to take; you feel it, but when you start thinking about it, you take the opposite. Then what happens? When it's done and the result comes, you say, ''Oh, my goodness, I should have taken the other one. I was right; my intuition was right''. Always it happens! So, like that, you really have to be attentive of this inner voice. When you are attentive to this inner voice, and the more you listen to this inner voice, the more you will be directed into the right way, into the way of your path. And this path is up to you. Nobody can tell you, and I can't come and tell you, you do this like that. You will say, ''Oh, you can talk as much as you want; I will do what I feel''.

Somebody, like a month ago told me, ''You know, Swamiji, I feel like coming and staying here''. I said, 'Well, like you, there are a hundred people who feel the same'. I said, 'No, we can't'. Then she said, ''Well, I feel it inside, I will come''. I said, 'Well, you can come, but you will not stay here'. But she said, ''My brother and sister are here, I will be here''. It's good to see the determination, but if one is not ready to listen, then it's just the game of the mind. So, when you start to follow your intuition, not the mind, it will make you listen more. Nowadays, people are just talking, talking, talking, talking, but very few people listen. It's like the control of the tongue, I said earlier. It's difficult, because there's no bones in it; it's difficult to control it.

So, how many people really listen? Here they listen, then they forget, but they're quickly, talking, talking, talking. The tongue goes faster. Sometimes, they're still thinking what they will talk, but the tongue has already said it. This is how quickly the tongue goes. So, watch yourself, you know, daily analyze yourself. Again, I said analyze, not judging, to see how you are functioning, how the mind is functioning. How many judgements have you put? And see if it is judgment or criticism; see it in yourself. Where does this path lie within me? Because if I am seeing a fault in somebody else, it has to be inside of me; it's a mirror. Like that, little by little, you will be able to change yourself, to change your mind, firstly, so that the self can reveal itself to you. So, it's not a process of one month, but it's a daily process throughout life, but it depends on you to change now, to start it now. Perhaps, later on, one day, you will be able when you hear your inner voice, to hear the Divine inside of you. You will be happy listening to this voice and follow it. Jai Gurudev.

A Short Story by Mahavatar Babaji: Once there was a sadhu who wandered the mountains of Badrinath, India. I was walking and spending some time there once, when I encountered this sadhu sitting outside his cave on a sunny spring morning in 1922, your time. I asked him, 'How long have you been here, sir'? He said, “Forever, I have been here for time out of mind". I asked, “Why do you sit here on this mountain continuously when there is a cosmos to explore out there"? He replied as he pointed to his heart, “The greater cosmos, all of it, I have inside here”.

My friends, this is a great truth, “You carry within you all that is, ever was, and ever will be”. Your mind and the clutter you allow yourself to move around and keep you occupied each day, in contemporary times, keeps you in bondage to your own creation of limitation. The sadhu I encountered that day, to the casual eye, seems to be confined to a small space on Earth. But modern man, literally, is confined to the small part of his brain he allows himself to run around in each day, like a laboratory rat in a maze of the scientist’s making. Free yourselves of the mind games you play which keep you in the cage of the mind.

I am Babaji, and I wish for you all, that you soon may find the freedom that sadhu still enjoys, to this day in your time, in Babrinath, India.

Swami Vishwananda: Our Mind

Jai Gurudev! Our mind is one subject that I like to talk about. First of all, what do we understand of the mind? Mind is: thought, experience, limitation, judgment, boring, worries. All these are qualities of the mind, but yet, not the mind itself. The mind is very quick in creating different realities and different qualities. Judgment is the first quality with which the mind is very good. Experience comes afterwards, because throughout the judgment and throughout the worries, you are experiencing everything. So, the greatest quality of the mind is judgment, and from judgment comes other qualities like criticising, the pride and the ego. All these are qualities of judgment.

Continuously our mind is in a judging state. We analyze ourself; I didn't say when we judge ourself. But what happens when we say we analyze ourself? Automatically, you look at all your bad things, all your negativity. You never look at your positivity. You say this is good, let me put it in a corner. But the negativity—Wow!— you will analyze it from different angles and from different facets, and then you will feel sorry for yourself. And this is a quality of the mind, because you are not judging others, you are judging yourself. This is what Christ said! The judgment you see in others, actually in a little bit, is in yourself. That's why you can't accept this in others. Why should that person have it? I don't have it. You know this, because you would like to have everything, and you would like that the neighbor doesn't have anything. This is the quality of the mind.

You know these three little monkeys—one each that is covering the ears, the mouth and the eyes. These three senses are very needed to control the mind. We get influenced by what we see. We get influenced by what we hear. We get influenced by what we talk. For example, if there is gossip and somebody is talking something nicely, people say it's boring, lets put it aside, nobody wants to hear it. But when there is gossip, everybody would like to put in their bits and pieces, because these bits and peices are not outside of you, they are inside of you. When you try to spice the gossip, actually you are expressing yourself. Actually, a clever person will analyze themselves and say, ''Hey wait, what am I doing here?'' But the mind works differently. Like the monkeys showed that you should not see, you should not hear, you should not speak evil, but that's what man does most of the time, because this creates sensation inside.

Take the newspapers, take the media everywhere, what does this create? It creates just sensation. Did you ever see anything good in newspapers? The first page of it is filled with rubbish. And why? Everday it's the same thing, because your mind perceives it, and you see only this negativity, and the mind is attracted to this negativity. And later on when you see your life not progressing, not advancing, then you ask yourself, Why? You say I am the good one and the rest are the bad ones. You don't see that by analyzing what you put inside of you, it is very important also, and not just what you put inside, but how you work with it inside of you.

Krishna said, ''If the mind dwells on a certain object in the outside, one becomes similar to that object. I will not say that if your mind dwells on a pumpkin, you will become like a pumpkin, but you will have similar qualities. You will be lazy, and you'll be heavy. You develop certain qualities. So that's why it's said to let the mind dwell on the Divine; let the mind be positive. Of course one will say, well, it's easy to say, but difficult to do! But, actually, it is not difficult if you train yourself to think positive and be aware at each moment whether this is a judgment, or is this a criticism? You then analyze it not outside of you, but on yourself, and you'll be able to train your mind.

It's very easy just to speak it out, isn't it? As the tongue doesn't have any bones, it's difficult to control. But with training, with practice, and with determination, if you really want, you can change things. Otherwise, like the monkeys, you'll become the same. That's why the monkey showed—don't do this thing, don't become like me. Otherwise, there will be no difference between you and me. This is where affirmation comes in, because if you want to be positive, if you want to achieve a life of a human being and finally attain the Divine, you have to act as a human being, you have to think like a human being. I will not say animal, because animals don't think like that.

Have you ever found a feather on your path, dreamed of a feather, or had a vision of a feather? The following poem came intuitively, after I spontaneously had a vision of a white feather the morning of September 4, 2010. (Spiritual symbology of the feather below).

CATCH THIS

Appearing out of nowhere
A white, soft feather gently
And gracefully floats
Through the air toward you.
Opening your hand,
Palm toward the Heavens,
Seems magnetically to direct
The feather to land, ever so gently,
In the palm of your hand.
You look up, and no bird is in sight,
Either near, or far.

Take a magnifying glass
Of nine times magnification,
And place the feather
In the proper alignment
With the glass lens
So that you can see the feather. . .
Magnified by nine.

Leave the feather magnified
For a few moments in time,
Then stand outside your home
And star gaze with awareness.
Go back inside and look at the
Grand Divine Design of the feather,
Magnified by nine. . .
Remember the majesty of the stars and . . .

Symbol meaning of Feathers:
Symbol meaning of feathers deals with ascension and spiritual evolution to a higher plane. In dreams feathers mean travel or the ability to move more freely in life. White feathers in dreams indicate innocence or a fresh start in a spiritual sense.

Note: The above symbol meaning is applicable to my life at present. Briefly... my interpretation of the white feather vision as it is applicable to my life: Two days before I had the white feather vision, my life expanded, and I became freed up to create “…the ability to move more freely in life.” And my life opened up to creating “…a fresh start in a spiritual sense.”

In Christianity feathers represented virtues. In fact, an image of three feathers were made into signet rings - each feather symbolizing Charity, hope, and faith. These rings were worn as a symbol of a virtuous soul - they were also used as wax seals. The ring would be dipped in warm wax then pressed against documents to seal the closure. The recipient would know the documents came from a virtuous man by the indication of the three-feather symbol in the wax.

As a Celtic symbol meaning, the feather was worn by Druids in the form of ornate feathered robes. Celtic Druids donned these robes in ceremonies to invoke the sky gods and gain knowledge of the celestial realm. It was believed that the feathered cloak along with the presence of the sky gods would allow the Druid to transcend the earthly plane and enter the ethereal realm.

The Egyptians believed that feathers were symbolic of sky gods too. Ma'at, the Egyptian goddess of justice, would weigh the hearts of the newly dead in the underworld against the weight of a feather to determine the worthiness of his or her soul.

Feathers were worn by Native American Chiefs (Indians) to symbolize their communication with Spirit, and to express their celestial wisdom. Also in the Native American Indian culture, feathers represented the power of the thunder gods, along with the power of air and wind.

Native American Pueblo Indians would pay homage to the Feathered Sun which is a symbol of the cosmos and the center of existence. Another symbol meaning of feathers also revolves around prayer, and the Pueblo use feather sticks as they dance in prayer for rain during solstice rituals.
